The Programmes of the Cluj/Kolozsvár Town Embellishment Society during the Hungarian Cultural Days

During the 8th edition of the Hungarian Cultural Days of Cluj, the initiator of the Flowered Cluj Movement, the Cluj/Kolozsvár Town Embellishment Society will also be present in Kogălniceanu Street with its own booth and programmes. The programmes of the association can be visited between 17–19 August.

The Cluj/Kolozsvár Town Embellishment Society started a novel programme this summer, entitled the Flowered Cluj Movement. The goal of the initiative is to cover Cluj with flowers, with the help of the inhabitants of the city. The citizens of Cluj wishing to participate in this joint action, only have to adorn their windows and balconies with flowers, take pictures of them and send them to us in one of the three categories of the competition: the Most Beautiful Balcony, Window andFacade. The deadline for the application is the 20th of August. We are looking forward to receiving the applications at the following link: http://varosszepito.ro/kolozsvari-varosszepites-palyazasi-urlap.html. Following the announcement of the winners on the 10th of September, the prizes and the acknowledgement certificates will be awarded at an open ceremony .

In order to popularise the movement and make the Cluj/Kolozsvár Town Embellishment Society better known, the association participates with its own programme in the 8th edition of the Hungarian Cultural Days of Cluj. Within this framework, on Thursday, the 17th of August at 11 am, those interested can meet plant protection engineer Sándor Orbán, who will talk about the diseases and ways of treatment of various indoor and outdoor plants. He will be followed at 1 pm by a children’s activity, led by Kinga László, which will introduce the audience to the joys of preparing flower decorations. On Friday, we can listen to real garden practices from Cluj-based organic farmer Éva Veress, who meets her interested audience at 11 o’clock at the Flowered Cluj Booth. On Saturday, starting with 10 o’clock in the morning, ‘flower swapping’ will be organised for three hours, where ornamental plants can find their new owners, and indoor plant and flower lovers can enlarge their collections with new items.

The organisers are looking forward to meeting you all at these programmes. You can read more about the Flowered Cluj Movement at the following link: http://varosszepito.ro/viragos-kolozsvar.html
